I went for the pancakes after someone suggested it. I am a pancake snob because my dad makes the best pancakes in the world (and everyone who tries them agrees). These pancakes were so different than how he makes them, they're really incomparable. This pancake is truly crispy, and it tastes like the oil that they use to make it that way! It's definitely a specific flavor that really works for lots of people. I totally think its worth the try! Even if they don't end up being your favorite, the restaurant itself is beautiful and lovely. And they have tons of classic french dishes for brunch, so this should definitely be on your list!

The ambience and service were excellent, and the place was full of energy for Sunday brunch. The food itself has some really amazing standouts, like the pancakes, which were literally the best we've ever had. Unfortunately, some of the other things we ordered, like the white fish and the frittata, were just okay. The pancakes make it worth the effort and I will be going back for more.

Popped in before they had to temporarily close for building reno. Tried the viral pancakes- I wish I had read a bit more on them before I added additional syrup on top, my bad. These were yummy but very dense and rich, probably better to share than to eat a whole plate (2 pancakes) by yourself. I did really enjoy the griddled texture of these, a satisfying crunch from the crispy edges/surface but fluffy, cake like interiors. Let's also be honest- they are very visually pleasing with their uniform round shape. ( The crunch sem I also decided to get the pigs head terrine to try something new. This reminded me some-what of a ham- salad. it was delicious and I loved this paired with the fresh, pickled carrots and jalapenos. The salty/spicy/fresh combo was crave able. Again, a dish I wish I could share with another person as after a few bites I was finished. Loved the minimalist, clean interior and light filled space. It's a bummer they will shut down for awhile. 4/5

The pancakes were absolutely delicious. I ordered the kedgeree -- an item I've never seen on a menu in the US (but that my Granny would often make). Nothing like hers but still quite good. Husband had the egg sandwich, which was "fine" he said. Service was very efficient and despite being prime brunch time we were in and out very quickly.

Walk don't run to Chez Ma Tante before they close for renovations! Easily one of my favorite restaurants in the city that I'll miss while it's away. They've earned the 5 stars from me on multiple occasions. Walking in to Chez Ma Tante, you're greeted with the buzz of chatter, beautiful light fixtures, and friendly faces that all signal a good time. I recommend a cocktail--their list is usually on the classic side of inventive but always really well put together and with a small twist of ingredients that keeps things fresh. Service is consistently excellent, helpful, friendly and just the right touch. The food is sublime. I've never had a dish here that I didn't think was cooked to perfection. We can't go without pigs head terrine (think the most succulent corned beef-like thing you've ever had) when we come, but the rest of the menu we treat as a rotating delight. Most recently, really well executed smoked white fish that came adored with fish roe to elevate a simple dish, stracciatella with charred cabbage that is just begging to go on their wonderful bread, and duck leg confit that just melted away with the perfect decadent sauce. A word on the sauce generally: it's the consistently the best I've had anywhere in the city. Whatever dish a sauce touches at Chez Ma Tante comes together effortlessly. Dessert is always a delight--most recently, almond tart that was just the right sweetness and texture and a buttermilk panna cotta with pickled grapes that was phenomenal. The wine list is notable too--natural choices range from elegant to more on the natty side, but always managing to complement the food. Get it while it's hot, I think they may still have a couple of bottles of this Jura number, J'en veux encore!!! that their somm worked hard on an allocation for. I could carry on and talk about the ambiance continuing into the bathrooms, but I think you get the picture. Walk don't run before they're on hiatus!

A staple brunch spot in Greenpoint and one of the best pancakes I've ever had! If you're craving something sweet and decadent, look no further! Similar to Clinton Street and it's crispy on the outside but fluffy on the inside but doesn't need extra compote or maple butter! Walked in on a weekend and sat at the bar. Definitely recommend a reservation for a group. Country pate and Turkish coffee cake was okay, a little underwhelming compared to the pancakes.

We made a reservation for a weekend brunch after seeing their viral pancakes on tiktok. Come to find out none of us love pancakes that much so we were hoping it would still be worth it to go. We arrived about 10 minutes after our reservation due to traffic and had to wait 5-10 minutes for a table as it was fully packed. Even though the dining room was full it wasn't too loud to hear each other. We got the pancakes and coffee cake to split. The coffee cake was not a traditional coffee cake, more like carrot cake. It was so good and came with whipped cream. The pancakes were indeed as good as everyone says they are! They were two fluffy pancakes and splitting that with 4 people was the perfect way to get a sweet taste before a savory main meal. All of the main meals were incredible. The egg sandwich had a very fluffy bun. My friends also got the salmon Benedict and whitefish sandwich that they said were good. We were so happy we came to try their brunch menu and that the pancakes and the rest of the food lived up to the hype! I would recommend making a reservation and checking out chez ma tante!

RATING: 8.7/10 PRO TIP: Get the pancakes. Came here bc I heard they were some of the best in NYC and I have to agree. Top 5 for me for sure. PANCAKES D E L I C I O U S. Like, beautifully crisp, oily buttery, sweet, somewhat savory pancakes with such a deep flavor that instantly put a smile on my face. If you're a fan of crisp/crunch textures, you'll love this. This pancake however is not a fluffy standard american pancake and if you're used to that, and want that, you may be disappointed. I say be open and trust that it's going to take you on an awesome flavor and texture journey. A tad bit oily but how else will you get that crunch. SAUSASGE BREAKFAST SANDWICH Wanted to be wowwed more by this, but I felt that the eggs didn't really come through flavor-wise and that it was super super oily, and greasy. The sausage was there, but didn't taste too much of it either. Their cocktails were great, too. FINAL CATEGORY: GREAT/EXCELLENT (terrible / bad / ok / good / GREAT / EXCELLENT)

The pancakes absolutely deserve the hype. Dropped in on a Saturday at around noon and had to wait for an hour to get in. We ordered the salmon benedict (which was alright, definitely nowhere near the best eggs benedict I've had) and the pancakes (which were amazing and seem to be what Chez Ma Tante is known for). The service wasn't super attentive unfortunately--likely a product of how busy they are--and the space is a bit cramped, but I'd definitely recommend checking it out (and planning to get a reservation ahead of time)
